SELF-HELP/SPIRITUALITY

WORK IT:
ENCOURAGEMENT FOR A TOUGH ECONOMY

Deuteronomy 8:18 “..For it is He who give you power to get wealth..”

A few days ago, I ran into a girl friend of mine at the hair salon. I was waiting on my husband while he received a fresh cut, she was delivering cookies to the barbershop/salon, which is now one of her many client stops during the week.

This friend, in the midst of the economic hard times shared with me that she, like so many of us in this season, needed to increase her revenue. After some praying and seeking, she explained the idea for her cookies came to her by inspiration of the Lord. At first she was just making the cookies for her hairstylist; but like anything that involves the pursuit of one’s passion…in no time at all “A Different Flavor” (the cookie company) was and is the latest buzz in town.

UTC readers, this downward spiral of our economy isn’t all bad! In spite of the challenges we face with the current status of our economy, we are witness to the fact that in times like these that people are more creative, more open to and more involved in entrepreneurial efforts to support and/or increase their income.

I’m impressed by the number of stories CNN has shared in the last several months about people who refuse to give into a recessed mentality but by any means necessary, are working to keep their homes, stay out of the poor house and pay their bills. Creativity and ingenuity I believe is at an all time high across the land. My story included, I’ve started my clothing company, getting my books written and published and I make sure to have CD/DVD products to sell when I travel to different speaking engagements.

Here’s the point…each of us has been empowered with a talent, gifting, ability, idea, or vision that has been dropped in our heart and head to produce wealth for ourselves. These inspirations are a gift from the creator given to us to increase our wealth cycle. I’m not stating everyone will be RICH. Wealth vs. being Rich speaks to the quality of life.

So UTC reader(s)…does the news of a recession have you down or discouraged? Are you a lil short on a positive cash flow? Can’t seem to make the ends-meet? Well let me encourage you, that maybe its time to WORK IT! Work that talent, gifting, ability, idea, and vision that has been dropped into your lap and see if it can’t help you increase your wealth cycle.

From ideas about cookies to the ingenious methods people are using to secure employment in a high unemployment environment…all across the land people are working what they have! Whatever “it” is, work it and see if you aren’t able to do something about increasing your wealth cycle. You have nothing to loose but everything to gain!

So go for it…Work it!

Thank you for this simple, yet profound message. I am embarrassed to admit how hard it is for me to walk on faith sometimes. Jesus told Peter to step out of that boat and walk on the water; God told Moses to stretch out his hand and part the Red Sea. So, I am grateful to you for reminding us to not let self-doubt hold us back, because it is God’s will that we prosper. LIke you sai, that doesn’t mean we’ll all be rich, but He does want us all to prosper in terms of being happy, fulfilled, confident, productive and able to provide for our families.
