LIL WAYNE FACES GUN CHARGES
Lil Wayne, just after winning best rap album at the 2009 Grammy Awards, will face criminal gun possession charges at a trial scheduled to begin April 20 in NYC.
Weezie, whose government name is Dwayne Carter, faces one count of criminal weapons possession and one charge of criminal possession of a loaded weapon. Prosecutors allege a gun was found in his tour bus in July 2007.
Ja Rule was arrested separately on similar charges following a hip hop concert in New York where both men performed. Ja Rule, whose government name is Jeffrey Atkins, pleaded innocent and a trial date has not yet been set.
Weezie appeared in court wearing a black leather jacket, jeans, and black-rimmed glasses, blowing a kiss to fans who greeted him outside the courtroom.
New York State Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon ordered jury selection as soon as the rapper completes his current concert commitments. Carter is on tour until April 12, his lawyer said.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Now you know they are ready to throw the book at rich lil’ Black rap kids.
FABOLOUS’ TOUR BUS FILLED WITH GRASS
Arkansas police found 500 lbs. of marijuana on Fabolous’ tour bus. Damn. Couldn’t he just get a bus or a van to ride behind your tour bus and pay someone to take the hit for carrying your smoke?
Fab wasn’t on the bus at the time of the bust but tow guys who allegedly worked for Fab were. You know they sang like canaries, which by the way, let me warn you now, I’ll be singing like Patti LaBelle if that kind of madness jumps off.
His “homies” told the cops that the Fab had loaded the marijuana into one of the bus’s locked compartments, as well as close to $6,500 in cash, which was also confiscated at the time of the pot seizure.
Now y’all know that there was probably more money in the mix, but um..er rum, yeah y’all know where I’m going with this.
According to the bus driver, who you know was not going down with the ship, said the bus was returning from NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix was allegedly escorting Fabolous to Boston to pick up a rapper whose name he couldn’t recall. Gotta love that selective amnesia!
N.O.R.E. GETS THE CUFFS
N.O.R.E. was arrested following a fight with a customer at a Miami Beach hamburger restaurant. 31-year-old N.O.R.E., whose government name is Victor Santiago was arrested after police said he caused a disruption at a Fatburger by yelling at another customer, ripping up a bouquet of flowers and throwing a drink at a customer.
Authorities said N.O.R.E. punched a man in the face, and yelled “Do you know who I am?” The man received a cut on the left side of his face, a police report said.
Now how much money homeboy is gonna try and get is gonna be astronomical amount; what N.O.R.E. has to give will probably be a totally different story. The man with the bruised face is about to get his ego bruised too when he realizes he can’t cash in. It’s not like he got punched by 50 Cent.
N.O.R.E. was charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Miami-Dade county jail and released.
