HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON
I’m back! I’ve been on an “extended” holiday break and I’m anxious to catch up!
President Obama…wait…let me say that again, President Obama has been all over the television selling his economic stimulus package. He hasn’t been in office a month but he looks so comfortable and downright cool doing the job. So far he has been everything I had hoped for in style and most importantly on substance. We will never know what goes on behind closed doors in Washington, but when The President needed to apply maximum pressure to get this bill passed, he took to the airwaves. His town hall meetings and press conference let America know not only what his plan was, but also that he is delivering what he promised as a candidate, swift action on a massive level. Blind Republican opposition is tanking with Americans who need help now!
On a side note, how smooth is the Presidents new ride?! Bullet proof and rimmed up! If this wasn’t real, I’d say Jerry Bruckheimer is over stylizing the picture.
As I predicted, the Super Bowl was amazing! The game was great, Jennifer Hudson came out and tore the house down, the crew from the US Air plane that landed in the Hudson River got a standing ovation and I need to thank Steve and Karen for hosting the BOMB Super Bowl party.
Kobe dropped 61 in the Garden and Lebron followed up with 52. The defending champion Boston Celtics are struggling right now and Lamar Odom took over for Kobe and posted a “W” on the champ’s home floor. I’ll mention A-Rod finally admitting he used steroids just because it was a big story. But on the real, I’m tired of baseball and this story. We get it already!
“American Idol” has a STRONG group of singers this year; we’re past Hollywood week and ready to let America start voting. But never shying away from controversy, “Idol” has already booted one hopeful for being “ineligible.” If “Idol” wasn’t a reality show it would be the best “drama” on television.
I’m digging the new series “Lie to Me” staring Tim Roth. It’s very similar to “The Mentalist” but unique enough that I don’t mind. “The Mentalist” uses observation and metal acuity in more of a free flowing way where “Lie to Me” likes to focus more specifically on the science of physical “tells’ the indicate deception. I don’t ever fault multiple medical shows for all having doctors, so I look at these shows with that same logic and objectivity. I’m a Tim Roth fan from “Reservoir Dogs,” “Rob Roy,” “Pulp Fiction” and most recently the “Hulk” just to name a few. He’s good on the small screen too.
You know my favorites shows. “Grey’s”, “Fringe,” “House,” “Chuck,” “Damages,” “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” and all the others I’ve reviewed and suggested here. If there’s something you think I’m sleeping on, let me know and I’ll add that to my looong tivo list.
Next week, I’ll have a special piece on Supercross. I’m sure most of you just said “Supercross?” All I will say for now is, check your local listings for Supercross airing on CBS Sunday mornings. The races are on Saturdays and the replay is on Sunday. There’s something special happening and our UTC community needs to know about it!
Let me get my remote!
