GIVING THANKS FOR OBAMA
Like a lot of other folks across America, I will devote part of my Thanksgiving Day prayers to acknowledging Barack Obama.
Living at this historic time, when America has voted in its first black President, is truly cause for being thankful! I’m thankful that the United States has taken such a huge step in growing out of the wicked, foolish racial divisions which have caused incalculable misery since our nation’s inception. I’m thankful for the energizing example of this honorable, articulate, strong and graceful black man stepping up to unify and lead the United States in a time of crisis and uncertainty.
I’m thankful for Mr. Obama’s “Yes We Can” vision which continues to inspire, motivate and reassure us during these nervous days. I’m thankful for his confidence and sense of command, his extraordinary intelligence, vast knowledge and, most of all, his sincere dedication to public service. I’m thankful for his calm demeanor, analytical mind and commitment to problem solving.
I’m thankful that, as baaad as this brother is (in terms of intellect and achievement), he is still humble, kind, loving and down-to-earth. Barack is “real” in the truest sense of the term.
I’m thankful for the beautiful relationship between Barack and Michelle Obama – their intimate friendship, mutual respect, affection and involvement in one another’s lives are refreshing reminders in this cynical era that men and women – particularly black men and women – can connect and share something uniquely wonderful.
So, this Thanksgiving Day, I will give thanks for all of The Lord’s blessings, including the blessing of an extraordinary man who I believe is destined to be a great President because he is, first and foremost, a great man.
Thanks for listening. I’m Cameron Turner and that’s my two cents.
