I love it how they think Mr. Harvard Law Review is going to stumble. You don’t get to be that by accident, or because your daddy went there and knows somebody that can pull some strings for you. Barack is just about ready to carry the Sam Jackson signature edition Bad MF wallet in his back pocket.

On Rick Ross, I think he’s wack anyway. If you’ve got a nice flow, you can rap about making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and people will buy it. If method man was rappin’ on Sesame Street it would still be hot, as would anything put out by Talib Kweli or Mos or RedMan. I’m waiting for a cat with a sick flow to rap about how he’s shifting paradigms at Harvard Biz school and have that bump in the club. Barack knows what he’s getting into and that every move is a key crucial step. I have faith in him that even though he’s not old and jaded that will serve him well! Common sense can trump experience in many many many situations!

Lying will always catch up to you one way or another. He could have come on the scene as a hardcore dude, past be damned. Now its him “uncovered” as a once working man in the prison system. The bigger issue is why we even care what artists are doing privately or in their past. Let the music speak for itself and let the fans find you. I never cared that Al Green was a womanizer! I just listened to the music. I don’t care that Denzel is a playa. I just watch the movies! It doesn’t matter anywhere except in the fake “hip hop community.” I don’t think its been a community for some time now.

Rick Ross has to be a fool.. a pretend wanna be thug.. I remember when Tupac came to L.A.hanging with Suge & the bloods.sometimes he got reminded that he was from the east coast and didnt truly understand that in South Central these cats are for real with the thug life. Tupac was rapping and playing with it. It helped cost him his life. Rick Ross and others should learn just be your self and let your talent speak for itself. Go Obama!

I undersatnd the Rick Ross controversy as being a bit more than you’ve stated. He lied about his street cred. That’s a no no. It speaks so something Sister Coretta talked about in Yaminah’s Recession blog. Don’t play with being down and out. Don’t play with being a criminal. Don’t play with things you don’t know. I think that the message the hip hop community is sending. Many rappers are embraced who don’t have a negative biography – Common, Kanye West, Mos Def, just to name a few. Why make it up? I think thats the janky part of it all. Not so much that he had a job, but that he lied about it. As recently as last week, he was DENYING that he ever worked at all. Saying it was the work on “haters” spreading lies. Stop it Rick.

I miss the good men too. I went to a black college where the men could not wear hats indoors, opened doors, it was considered rude to curse in front of women and children, and the guys had to sign in and wait for you in the lobby to pick you up. there wasn’t no honking the horn! Where has that whole idea gone? Why Is gangsta so cool and love so bad?
