i guess i am what you’d call an urban thought collective lurker. i read the boards religiously, but never post a comment. but this takes the cake so i had to post a WHAT THE FU*%?! is anyone else embarassed? is anyone else wondering what the hell is going on with the black youth? i mean, i’m just 15 years removed from being a black youth myself but i feel like there has been a generational shift which has left our young people morally bankrupt with no sense of pride and personhood. is it the music video culture that makes this young sister and her friends think an ensemble like that was ok to sport to prom? again, i’m in my 30s and am appalled at the fact that i sound like my grandpa but damn. |

you are very right jeffg. looking at stuff like this makes me feel like a part of another generation where we cared about appearances and things outside of ourselves. this generation - and yes i feel old too saying that - seems to care less. to me, its really clear with the war. there is a war on and the student population should be leading the dissent. and yet, you hear nothing from he college campuses in this country. this young generation could care less if its not in a video game or music video. and im just 30ish too but thats how i feel. |
