Sex In The Big Apple
So, A calls and says “you’re in,” and just like that, the weekend is about to be REALLY interesting. I’m off to the “Sex & the City” press junket.
What’s a junket you may ask? Well, it’s where us hungry journalists gather at a swanky hotel and interview the stars from the movie of the week.
Now, this is not just another trip to the big city. I’ll be talking with four women who, if rolled into one (figuratively, of course) would be every man’s dream. I heard this comment (and a few more I won’t mention here) from male journalists throughout our comfy press holding suite. We were prepared and excited to interview actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
After several flight delays, including being stuck on the runway for an hour, my fellow passengers and I were on the way. I couldn’t get there fast enough. It’s 5:30 PM and no time to unwind meant a quick drop off at the hotel just to drop my bags. Then, it’s on to the Time Warner building for an early press screening of the film. The eager studio publicists then announced to the thirty or so of us press people that not even Oprah herself has seen the ending of “Sex & the City.” Like whoa.
We are reminded that we should not only keep the secret movie ending to ourselves, but we should also feel fortunate. Well, I didn’t watch the series, so I didn’t realize the big deal … about Mr. Big … whatever.
Bottom line, the movie is very cool.
After a fun flick and a late stroll, some chow was definitely in order. Then, I was up the next morning for a run in Central Park to take off above-stated late dinner. Quick shower, then over to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to check in, review the film info (so I sound real good on camera), and be ready to meet and greet the stars.
And they deserved to be called stars. Even though I wasn’t familiar with the characters like every one else, I actually liked this movie. Guys, get ready to man up!
“Sex & the City” is about the two L’s: labels and love. If I talk about love, I’ll give away the ending of the movie, and trust me, you’ll want to see this one for yourself. So that leaves us with labels. Sarah Jessica Parker had the great dress. She’s the only person I know who can make anything go together. Kristin Davis was rockin’ the shoes. Cynthia Nixon was banging accessories that work.
Yes, I am a guy who doesn’t just send the credit card with my woman. I am that man who will stay with you all day and honestly say if the digs work or not. Key word being MY woman. Gentlemen, try it. The extra points do count when you need them.
Back to the film, here’s the nSIDE on the personality profiles in a word or two:
Sarah - magnetic & adorable
Kristin - nice and naughty
Cynthia - funny and smart
Kim – wow … wow again
The hottie award has gotta go to Kim Cattrall. She is living proof that total packages exist at any age and in all colors. I’m just following the instructions … give honor to whom honor is due. See, it does pay to get back home Sunday morning in time for the Word. LOL.
The interviews? nCredible! Stay tuned to BETJ’s nContrast for the visual scoop. And if you can, try to spend time in NYC this summer. Just like me, it never sleeps.
Enjoy the labels and love no matter what … cause you never know if it’ll be around the next season. Constantly thank Him for it all ….
