Olympic Gold Medalist Prepares
To Fly …
What’s going on with me?
Well, right now I’m still training, trying to prepare myself for my first meet at the infamous Penn Relays which happen this weekend. I will be running the 4×100m as I have done for the past couple of years.
I’m truly excited about this meet. Not only because it will be my first for this year, but it’s my first meet during an Olympic Games year. I’ve really had to buckle down and focus this year because of the many changes that have taken place since the 2004 Olympics.
I’ve relocated to Los Angeles and changed coaches. This means getting used to a new environment and a new way of doing things. Change is good.
It’s an adjustment that I’ve had to make while still focusing on the job at hand. I must remember that I’m a professional. To whom much is given, much is expected.
I’m feeling comfortable in my surroundings now and looking forward to an amazing year on the track field!
I’ll keep Urban Thought Collective posted as I make my way to the Gold.
ICON sprinter Shawn Crawford ascended to the top of the track and field world when he won the Gold medal in the 200 meters in the 2004 Olympics. Presently number six in the world, Crawford looks forward to winning the Gold once again in the 2008 Olympics. He is currently training with legendary Track and Field coach Bob Kersee. His periodic dispatches from the field will appear exclusively on UTC.
